I've been thinking about this subject for a while and believe more and more that there can be a powerful and physical connection between the mind and the body.  Googling around this subject today lead me to Amazon and the following book;

Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection(Paperback) by John E. Sarno

Having read the on-line introduction I was interested to read John E. Sarno's section on 'Holistic';

"...the predominant idea is that one must treat the 'whole person', a wise concept that is generally neglected by contemporary medicine....Perhaps holistic should be defined as that which include consideration of both the emotional and structural aspects of health and illness.  In accepting this definition one does not reject scientific method...."

This is a good definition of a holistic approach and philosophy.

I am curious to read more from John E. Sarno around the subject of Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS) and how it can play a part in our health and wellbeing.  I think I will try to buy this book and see how I get on and report back anything of interest or significance.
